The suspect was arrested within 18 hours after the murder was reported to the police. According to the police, the suspect said during interrogation that he was drunk at the time of the incident and he did not intend to kill her. He said he assaulted the victim in a fit of rage, without "realizing it would lead to her death". A tourist, who stood trial on the charge of assaulting and resisting an on-duty police officer, has been cleared by a Dubai court. The Saudi tourist, 39, has also been acquitted by the Court of First Instance of the charge of damaging a public property for he was accused of tearing up the officer's uniform. He earlier denied the charges at court, claiming he was under the influence of alcohol and did not recall the incident. The case dates back to May 4 in Al Rafaa. A murder investigation has been launched after the man’s body was found with bullet injuries on Thursday morning. The police said the body belonged to an Emarati man in his 40s but did not disclose his other identity details. The police were alerted about the incident when a member of the public spotted the body in a car parked in a mountain area. Police patrols, personnel from CID and forensic experts rushed to the scene and shifted the body to a hospital.
